I feel this is the toughest part of poker…
Most of us (including me) are bad at this and do not even realize it…
It is exactly like “investments” in real life…
You should know how much to invest and where depending on the money in your bank account…
Small mistakes can lead to lesser profits or money leaking…
A good way to learn about bankroll management would be to have a discussion here and also some valuable guidance from our Indian poker idol Adi!…

Lets start at the grass roots…
The lowest blinds are $0.01/$0.02 Cash game…
How much money is enough to play comfortably here…
Also what tournaments/sit and gos should one look for…

      The next blinds are $0.02/$0.05…
At what bankroll should one move here?…

      And so on…

Poker was always recreational for me, I used to always make some and then lose that…
But I have now started taking it seriously…
I had $22.80 on 1st October, when I started playing again, and this time to make money…
My bankroll(at pokerstars) at specific dates is as follows…
      1st OCT $22.80
19th OCT $70.20 (includes $10 bonus from pokerstars)
      28th OCT $96
      4th NOV $117.90
      7th NOV $136.83
      14th Nov $140.04
17th Nov $171.60 (includes $25 received in exchange for 2500FPPs)

      I have been playing only the $0.01/$0.02 cash games…(also a few $1.10 45players turbo)
You guys can see a dip in the curve after 7th November, because I tried playing $0.02/$0.05 and could not play my game as I was uncomfortable(and hence lost) as I did not want to lose all my bankroll as I did not know if I was right in moving up a level with $136.83, because I want to sit with $3.25 at the $0.02/$0.05 table…

Also, want to let you guys know I have never ever deposited any money at pokerstars and hence value my bankroll so much…lol

When should I look to move to the next level ($0.02/$0.05)?!?…

Also, I forgot to mention and important thing…
I sit with $1.25 at the $0.01/$0.02 level and would like to sit with $3.25 at the $0.02/$0.05 level…

      Waiting for your suggestions guys…

      when u got 325 $ u shud move up…
always take 100 buyin so that u never go out of money…
if u get down to 125$ playing 3.25$… just move down one level..to 1.25..

Yep pretty much that..you can always drop down in stakes if you find yourself not comfortable playing at .02/.05 or don’t find yourself winning like at lower stakes

20 buy ins is the minimum recommended to play any specific stake.

      For 2NL- $40.
      5NL- $100.
      10NL- $200.

So actually you’re rolled up for 5NL (0.02/0.05), but if you’re not comfortable don’t move up. Also if you’re a winning player, you’re losing value by not buying in for the maximum amount.

@gameover : just the fact that u didn’t feel comfortable playing .02/.05 with $140, shows that u are definitely inclined in the right direction as far as bankroll management goes. I feel u can move up right now from .01/.02 to a higher limit. Also remember the number of buyins u need as backup goes higher as u go up the limits. For .10/.25 NL, $500 is quite comfortable.
