Amit Varma is a novelist, blogger and poker player based in Mumbai, India. He has written for publications such as the Wall Street Journal, the Guardian and Wisden, and won the prestigious Bastiat Prize for Journalism in 2007. His first novel, 'My Friend Sancho', was the biggest selling debut novel published in India in 2009.

He took up playing poker seriously in 2010, and immediately made an impression on the local circuit, reaching seven out of 15 final tables in tournaments held as the Casino Royale in Goa, including a second-place finish in the main event of the India Poker Championship in September 2010 and recently won 3 events in 3 months including a win at the APT Goa Series. He is a regular online MTT grinder, and a Team PokerGuru Pro.
