    Live Reporting - January 2017 - 50K Main Event

Apoorva Goel Wins MAPC 50K Main Event for INR 13.23 Lakhs

    Time: 22:25:00
    Blinds: 20000/40000
    Ante: 5000
    Level: 22

"I took my chances and I am glad to be here," said a beaming Apoorva Goel after shipping the inaugural MAPC Main Event.

33-year old Goel topped the 109-entry field at MAPC and will go home INR 13.23 Lakhs richer. For Goel who is a self admitted semi-pro, poker is a natural extension of his day job where he deals with investment and stock trading. A known face on the domestic circuit, Goel is also the first Indian to ever win a spadie event, a feat he accomplished in Oct 2013 - at the same series that saw Kunal Patni and Anju Abrol bring home Spadies.

His journey over the past three days have been quite remarkable. Goel started off sixth in chips on the final table and moved consistently up the counts first by winning a few pots against Sahil Agarwal and later when he eliminated Mayank Agarwal. The first player at the event to reach a million mark he did come down momentarily when he doubled up Anup Agarwal but he was always among the front runners.

PokerGuru spoke to him after the event and he said, ‘It’s a crazy feeling! I have won a title after such a long time. I took my chances in the event and got lucky at the right spots too, what can I say, I am glad to be here."

Congratulations Apoorva and all others who made it in the money tonight. Thank you all for following our coverage, players who joined in our first-ever Fantasy League contest on LeagueGuru.com and to the organizers for putting up such a successful series! Till next time...
