    Hi Chris,

great play and good stats HU on PS and FTP. I am working at the moment and grinding FR is not a option for me given my long office hours. Office keeps me away from tourney as well. Want to graduate to a HU player. Could you guide me regarding -
    1. Site where HU is easy.
    2. Bankroll for HU
    3. hand ranges to start off with on the BB and the Dealer.
    4. Opponent types and how to adjust ranges.( I know its a wide topic but a general pointer or you could guide me to a good book or online reading/Video).

I am looking fwd to few more Vids on 400 NL and 200 NL HU since you are playing them frequently on PS and FT

    Hey Saby,

    1. I'd recommend playing HU on smaller sites, as the action is much softer there. My favorite is RPMPoker, but being from the USA I don't have as many options as you probably do. I'm sure there are plenty of great european sites for playing HU on.

    2. I think the bankroll needed for HU can vary a lot for different players. Personally, I feel comfortable as long as I have 100 buyins for a game.

    3. To start off a HU match, I will usually raise extremely wide on the button (Prob like 90% of hands) as I feel my edge postflop in the hand with position will allow me to play many weaker hands profitably. If you are not very comfortable with you postflop game, you probably would want to tighten up that range though, and stick to suited and/or connected hands that will play better postflop. My range from the BB would be much tighter since I am out-of-position (oop) in the hand. I would prob start off only playing strong hands and good flopping hands from the BB until I get some info on my opponent.

    4. While this is a very broad topic that would be impossible to cover briefly, some general types of players are:

Loose/Passive: These players generally like to see flops, but don't really try to make any moves and just play their hands faceup postflop.
Against these players, I usually look to build pots preflop as they will be easily pushed off their hand postflop, and you will be
able to win a lot of pots without showdown.

Calling Stations: These players generally don't fold ever preflop, and never fold pairs postflop; often calling flop bets with air as well.
Against these players, you want to tighten up your preflop ranges a lot because you're not going to be able to play weak
hands profitably against stations. Play your strong hands fast though, and also make light value bets with less than top
pair as you will get called down by worse a lot.

The best way to learn how to adjust ranges is simply by putting in more volume. Experience trumphs everything else in learning ranges, just gotta pay attention to all the hands being showndown.

    Hey Chris,

Thanks a ton for replying to the post. I tried playing HU on FTP and PS and dropped like 1K in a week he he maybe experience comes at a cost that i cant afford. Will build up with STT and try again and sure i will try maybe in 888 or AP where i can play smaller stakes.

I was reading a bit on the net about HU and looks like its the most profitable and the toughest form of cash games.

As usual a few quick questions

    1. I was looking at hand ranges and think 75% on the button and 25% on BB would be good to start. Is this correct.

    2. Does having a solid 6 Max game help in HU.(they look close to me being a 9 Max player for most part when i am playing cash would it help if i moved to 6 max and then HU)

    3. Would you make a video of 400NL when ur playing next really helps to follow ur thoughts and understand which lines to think on when replaying my HU sessions.

    1. Those percentages seem reasonable.

    2. I think having a good HU game would help you play a 6Max game more than having a solid 6Max game would help in HU.

    3. Next time I make a video, I will keep that in mind.

One thing I would highly recommend when playing HU is to game select well, as if you are playing good opponents it will be a whole lot tougher. This can be done by sitting on empty HU tables and waiting for an opponent to sit with you, as the weaker HU players are just going to sit at a table someone else is already sitting at, and they are not going to sit and wait for action. So, if you simply try to sit with someone else at a HU table, they will usually be a better player who is waiting for action from a fish. You need to be the one waiting for the weak players.

    Yup Chris,

I was the fish for sure. I will try to hunt fish at 888 and let you know how i did. Thanks a lot
