The Asian Poker Tour for the First Time in Mauritius!

August 15, 2012 - For the first time in history, the Asian Poker Tour will step outside of Asia and hold its next stop on the beautiful island of Mauritius from the 19th to 26th of August, 2012.

Eight days of fun filled poker action with local Mauritian players having to battle it out against poker players from Reunion, South Africa, Asia and the rest of the world.
The event will take place in Ti Vegas Casino at Grand Bay, which has held the biggest gathering of players in a tournament in the zone of Mascareignes.
The Main Event features a EUR 900 buy-in along with 10 Side Events with various buy-ins including Ladies of Poker Event on the 21st of August and a Charity Event on the 19th of August, which pays homage to an aspiring young poker player, Kevin Douce, whose death marked a great loss in the booming Mauritian poker industry. Add-ons from this Charity Event will be donated to Kevin’s family. The Main Event Final Table will have a live coverage at the event.
APT Asian Series Mauritius will be featured by Karine Lima on Paradise of Poker. This program can be seen on Tele Kreol on Saturdays at 11:00 PM, and in France on the AB Lucky Jack Channel.

Mauritius, August 20, 2012 - APT Asian Series Mauritius 2012 got underway yesterday with a EUR 110 buy-in Freezeout tournament, the first of 10 events this week to be staged at this paradise island location.

This is APT’s first ever event to be staged outside Asia and all eyes are on the week’s main event – a EUR 900 buy-in Asian Series tournament that starts Wednesday 22nd August.

Mauritius, August 21, 2012 – The race for top spot in the APT Player of the Year 2012 heats up the cool weather in Mauritius as Australian Liam Anderson made his his way to the APT Asian Series Mauritius 2012.
“I’m here to take the lead in the APT Player of the Year (POY) table”, said Anderson as he was greeted by the APT team.

Currently lying 2nd in the APT Player of the Year standings with six cashes already at APT 2012 events earning him 696.4 points behind leader Martin Nilsson from Sweden with 760.2, no one at APT doubted Anderson’s resolve and determination to do just that.
To prove the point, Anderson finished 4th in the opening side event at APT Asian Series Mauritius 2012, securing an additional 52.8 points taking his total points standing to 749.2, just eleven points shy of Nilsson.
The battle for leadership in the APT Player of the Year is surely taking place here this week in Mauritius!

In the Head Hunter event which took place last night, Mauritius’ Richard Chan claimed the title. Also on the tables were Liam Anderson and another APT Player of the Year candidate, Sam Razavi, who is currently on 8th place.

Mauritius, August 22, 2012 – Seychelles’ Murielle Dewals is Asian Poker Tour’s newest poker queen. Murielle claimed the championship of the Ladies of Poker event of APT Asian Series Mauritius 2012 held last night.

The EUR 900 buy-in APT Asian Series Mauritius Main Event Day 1A kicks off at 8PM local time today, and will be followed by the final day of the EUR 2,200 buy-in High Rollers side event at 8:30PM.

Mauritius, August 24, 2012 – After two days of first round play which saw a total of 114 players from 11 countries enter APT’s first event staged outside Asia, 73 advance to today’s Day 2 play which starts at 8PM local time.

The APT Asian Series Main Event had a € 900 total buy –in, giving a prize pool of € 89,740 with the winner at Sunday’s final table set to take home the APT Trophy, 400 APT Player of the Year (POY) points and € 22,840 in cash.
Australian, Liam Anderson, currently lying 2nd in the APT Player of the Year standings, and a player truly on form having cashed seven times at APT events this year, finished Day1A as chip leader with 62,075. He was followed by Klaus Pautrot from Reunion Island with 39,350, and Samad Suleman from Seychelles in 3rd position with 38,300. UK’s Sam Razavi, currently 8th in the POY rankings finished the day in 9th place with 28,575.

Yesterday’s Day1B had Bazerli Theo of Reunion take top spot with 55,875 chips followed closely by Mauritian Manan Fakhoo with 55,000. Positioned third was another Reunion player Dijoux Bernard who finished the day with a healthy stack of 46,350.

Mauritius, August 26, 2012 – It started four days ago with 114 players from 11 countries entering APT’s first ever event staged outside Asia. It took just 2 hours and 28 minutes yesterday during Day 3’s play for the final 20 players to play down to today’s APT Mauritius 2012 Final Table.

Liam Anderson, in town specifically to earn additional APT Player of the Year points had cause for early celebration yesterday: as one of the final 20 players left in the tournament, which only took 48 minutes of play for the “bubble” to burst putting the remaining 18 players, including Liam, ‘in the money’, he earned himself sufficient points to move to the top of the APT Player of the Year leader board. Liam finished his tournament run soon after when a Jack was dealt on the flop in an all situation prompted by Liam before the flop holding A4. His opponent turned over AJ.

Mauritius, August 26, 2012 – With Liam Anderson achieving his goal of gaining sufficient player points at this week’s APT Asian Series Mauritius to take him to the top of the 2012 APT Player of the Year standings, passing previous leader Martin Nilsson, he did not count on needing to look over his shoulder until next month’s APT Asian Series Manila to see who would be challenging him for the top spot during the remaining three APT events of 2012.
What Liam did not factor-in was the surprise arrival in Mauritius of Sam Razavi from the UK.
“I’m currently in 8th position on the APT Leader Board with three cashes to my name and not that many points away from the leaders: it was either EPT Barcelona or APT Asian Series Mauritius and I chose to be here”, said Sam.
Liam thought he was safe with a 4th place finish in this week’s opening event and 13th in the main event, securing him a further 92.80 valuable player points taking his year to date total to 789.20 relegating Martin Nilsson to 2nd spot with 760.20 points.
But Liam’s reign at the top of the APT Leader Board was short lived. On Saturday night with APT week coming to a close, Sam Razavi took down his first APT trophy, winning the € 400 Freezeout Event and gaining 240 extra player points. And yesterday as the final table of the main event was being played out, Sam secured a valuable 3rd place finish in the last side event of the tournament week getting him 100 points further, giving him a year to date total of 833 and the top spot on the APT Player of the Year Leader Board.

“I came to APT Asian Series Mauritius to get more player points, but I did not expect to take the lead this week – I’m absolutely delighted”, said a smiling Sam Razavi.

Mauritius, August 27, 2012 – After 114 entries from 11 countries, the first APT Asian Series event held outside Asia became a local Islands’ event with the final table consisting of three players from Mauritius, one from Seychelles and six from Reunion Island.

After seven hours of non-stop action which saw the chip lead change numerous times, two locals were left standing: Danny Cho and Bruno Tadebois both from Mauritius with equal number of chips in front of them to do heads-up battle for the prestigious APT title.
With the Main Event offering a total prize pool of € 89,740, it meant that one player would leave with the APT Champion’s Trophy, valuable Player of the Year points and € 22,840 in cash. The 2nd place finisher would walk away having some consolation of € 13, 400 deposited in his pocket.
But it was not until the first hand of round 28 with the blinds at 25k-50k and antes at 5k, and after almost ten hours of final table play, when Cho raised to 100,000 on pre-flop and was immediately re-raised all in by Tadebois. Eventually the call came and the players tabled from Cho and from Tadebois.
The board ran out .
