I love playing early in the micros too..
You can fastplay strong hands, and even massive overbet jams with nutted hands ( Overpairs+ ) works.. I usually like to do this OTT.. get snapped by sooo many worse hands, its ridiculously +EV and funny ofc...

no problems in that vinay..he is a pro..obviously he has better knowledge of poker than me...
may be i am getting donked too often in this MM series ..thats why i have that view...
deep run happens when u pick up spots and double up..2-3 times during late phase....dont c how i can do that..if i get donked in first 2-3 levels...
with 50BB deep...in a micro..u have ample of double up spots....
joining directly in 50/100 with 5000 Chips starting stack and playing aggressively with less than chip average stack is incorrect?...finished 34th in MM event 36..just by doing that

wp.. gg .. but this maybe too high variance (come to think of it you are more often than not, flipping a coin to start a tournament).. plus you miss out on all the weak chips/money flying about in early stages..

Yeah, that's one of the most silly things I have heard in my life. Why on earth would you want to play with a smaller stack against better players??!

Basically Mukul you are not trying to make money, you are trying to avoid bad experiences. In this case your fear of being sucked out on is so intense that you want to give up equity in the hope of being sucked out on less. As you yourself note, you are being results oriented. The point of poker is to make money, and not to avoid bad things happening to you. A better approach is to not be hurt mentally by being sucked out on.

The reason I hit so many big scores is that I build many massive stacks. I can afford to take every +EV flip and sometimes lose even 3 or 4 without being busted thanks to my stack size. Weaker players rarely build massive stacks and instead try and avoid risk and grind along and of course that gives them only 1 chance at a flip.

Edit: Reasoning by giving isolated examples of how you finished 36th (which itself doesn't give you anything meaningful in a MM tourney) in a single tourney is a very bad way to learn poker tournament strategy.

May be i am too new in tournament poker concept.... i have played cash games in my entire life...and always did good....
may be it depends on ur style of play also.. i feel much more comfortable with playing 30-50 BB deep stack (like in cash game )

    anyways
Thanks for ur input on my game..prabhat ...will try to improve

tell me if i am wrong in maths...
    i am giving 2 instances - 5000 starting stack
    1) level 7 -50/100 u have 50 BB stack then at end of level 10 -100/200- 200BB it takes 3 flips max ( 30 minutes)
    2) Level 1 - 10/20 u have 250BB stack then reaching to level 10 - 100/200 - 200BB how many flips and bad beat protection u need? (100 Minutes)

which path is more easier and comfortable and statistically more probable to achieve

Not to mention u will win or go deep in a tourney only if u cross level 10 right ?

Just let me know on ur views on concept of BPM ( Big Picture Mentality ) attaching a blog

regarding 34th place finish...i was chip leader most of the time but coudnt flip it

please give ur views on flipping ..since in ur blog second para u mentioned that it matters flipping in important stages...

isnt it true that one can win tourney only if u win flips at important stage....?
So reaching that stage is more important from where u can take on further?

Sorry if i am sounding too silly lol

    A) That blog doesn't really explain what "Big Picture Mentality" means other than not randomly spewing, which is obviously a good idea.

    B) I have no idea what your two instances mean. You don't need to coin-flip at all at the beginning of the tournament when you have a 200 BB stack. If you can play poker you should on average have more than 5000 chips by the time you reach level 7 if the starting stack is 5,000 chips.

Your logic is severely flawed. Unless you think you are -EV player, you are more likely to win chips in the early stages than to lose them. I don't see how registering late can possibly help a +EV player.

    C) I don't why Level 10 is so fascinating for you. You won't win a tournament without crossing Level 2 either....

    D) It matters to an enormous degree what your chipstack is when you cross level 10.

    E) The chance of your winning 3 flips in a row is 12.5% assuming they are all even.

    F) You don't need "bad-beat" protection when deepstacked because you will get most of your money in as a big favorite if you are good at poker. Interestingly accumulating chips early on allows you to lose flips later and still survive.

    G) My view on flipping is that you simply make +Ev plays and avoid -EV ones.

    H) Yes you are sounding silly. You don't seem to realize the difference between reaching an important stage (10% of field left in a PS tournament) with 10 BB and doing so with 50 BB. Not to mention that you won't even reach the top 10% very often with your style.

"So reaching that stage is more important from where u can take on further?"

    More important than what?
