FOR STARTERS, THANK YOU ALL FOR THE FEEDBACK.This has turned out to be a pretty nasty thread and I am gonna end it right here I guess. Again Sushi, This wasnt my hand and these were the different ideas which came out at that time. This hand has nothing to do with what I think or How I would go about in this hand. It was just out there to get different ideas. Well, like a lot of you suggested the hero ended up shoving turn and the Villain snaps with 8's full...

    Fold

why you ask fold, well let me tell you a story .......

first of all i havent read everyone above so if i repeat something please excuse me

right, i at this point dont want to get into a biggish pot with a fully capable player at this time, and i wouldnt mind lulling aggressive guy into a slightly false sense of capability (i want him to do this again later on when hes more likely to need to and more likely to believe a re raise from me and it will be worth more)

two: his range is still maximum here, even though the bet itself seems to say airish bias in the range,, by no means that it is so.. i dont think the villian has any premium in his range but AQ can be played by him as very similar to small PP mining. his entire range plays the same way if hes to win the hand - if villains ahead he cant give turn card for free and in all honesty, if hes taking it down on the flop, the ' raise the C bet from anyone' is his best profit option

it looks very much to me like the villain is at this stage asking a simple couple of questions of the hero with great ability to rep any turn card bar the ace to his advantage -- hes testing the waters so to speak and will almost certainly get to fire again on the turn -- say hes doing this with picture suited cards -- ok any picture on the turn he likes and hes going to bet the turn regardless -- so hero cant call the flop as hes basically then giving lead to villain for rest of hand (he might as well be playing it oop) -- well - hero can call flop with JJ+ but this pot is going to eat at least a third of heros stack if hes wrong about villain barrelling air.

as stated earlier, i want this to happen again in the future but i dont want to play a big pot now against a very capable player - nor do i want to get exposed to him as someone hes to stay away from, i want his chips, i want him to get into pots with me just for the sake of it and have the monstrously wide range define able because how he plays it next time.

another point, the villain here isnt likely to be airing here as hes comfortable, its early and since the history is the hero is stable and likely to be opening sensibly and also most people know the standard AK is beating most of your hand defend here,, i think the villain isnt spewing chips away of a frivolous bluff play (which has to be second barrelled on turn and villain knows this)-- so hes likely asking with and 8 combo any PP and some KQ/KJ hands but not enough to warrant a call - hero must shove here but i prefer the more sneaky approach as its likely this player will be around with chips later on and i want them

this spot also strikes me a one where your variance is defined by the villains range for a third to half your stack- ill leave you with that thought
