As nitty as it sounds, I fold this pre. As played pre, would rather check raise that flop and end the hand there. As played flop and turn, I like the river call.

Very surprised at the suggestion, $troll check/raise is just awful on the flop. Why? Why? Why? Would we turn this into a bluff on the flop?

Edit: Just had to point this out, I am not commenting on the hand otherwise, because I already know results.

I would like to turn it into a bluff is because, If I just flat here, most overcards would be a problem OTT, plus checkraise is so strong there, that if he will flat us/raise us, which probably means we are beat. Basically helps me narrow his range better, if I check raise, than if I flat . Plus we might have the best hand now, and want to just end this and take it down. Also , I check raise very wide on flops, and I think this has been more successful for me off late than the standard cbet. Think a lot of fishes are understanding cbets and float a lot.

Why do u not like the check raise ?? If you just flatting the flop, and whats the plan for the turn ?

what does a c-r rep here?

over pair, combo draws, etc . So basically I dont want him to continue with just 2 overs.
what am trying to say is, whats the plan on the turn if we just check call, we might have to call a second barrel from him which will be much bigger in bet size, we will just have to give up with scare cards like A, basically he gets a lot of advantage, because of his position, and check raising will make life tougher for him.

Vinay - would you flat 56s in this spot pre? Pocket 3s is no different. With your stack size, prefer to 3bet or fold pre. As played and with no specific read on villain, call on river sounds like hoping and praying that he is bluffing. All value hands in his range (which comprises of a big chunk) have us beat, and betting river as well.

ROLL$$ - c/r on flop will allow villain to play his hand perfectly every time. He gets away when he is behind, and wins maximum when ahead. c/r on a 544 flop reps a very very narrow range, rarely if ever anyone does it with overpair after flating pre. So either a player has trips or raising for info/bluffing (majority of times). Anyone who understands board textures can exploit this c/r profitably in position.

Rohit/$Roll - agree, bad flat pre considering stack sizes..

post .. never taking c/r line.. anyways .. villain had 55 for a flopped full..

    Hi Rohit,

That makes sense, Whats the best line to take on the flop. I just dont like this check calling business, cause we are pretty lost on the turn , and might have to laydown to most turn cbets, cause the pots bloating up with us having just an underpair on a paired board. AND we cant fold flop, because what better flop are we hoping for after calling pre... So thats why I suggested c/r , but I get how thats exploitable.

Also , like in this hand, when we get the openender on the turn, we can never fold there right ? or can we..
