Here, at the India Poker Championship, our constant endeavor is improving the player experience. Not only do we try to score the biggest tournament fields, but our focus is to make sure that win or lose the player must walk away feeling he had an experience which was at par with international standards. With that in mind we keep introducing new elements like online freerolls, more events, the introduction of the IPC Player of the Year (POY) ranking system and of course the upcoming crowning of the first ever India Champion!
The latest update is with regard to the India Champ and the POY. The IPC will sponsor a year long sponsorship for the India Champion and the eventual POY for an amount of INR 1,00,000 each!! Each amount includes a Main Event seat worth 25k and the balance can be used by the sponsored player to enter any IPC tournament of his/her choice. The India Poker Champion will be the first ever sponsored poker player in India and we hope just the first in a long line of players who will be sponsored by us.
To know more, check out the IPC blog at http://indiapokerchampionship.blogspot.com and if you wish to participate in the December IPC event, then you can register at this link - http://bit.ly/IPC_Dec2010

More exciting news!
The winner of the Main Event will receive a beautiful, customized poker table courtesy the good folks at AddicT Poker Tables. The winner can choose between an oval or octagonal design. What's more AddicT will also bear the shipping costs for any location within India. Check out their page on Facebook for pictures of their tables.
It just keeps getting bigger and better this December at the India Poker Championship!

Is this going to be ten handed with 20 minute levels and the same fast structure as the december event?
IPC_Dan
12-26-2010, 09:17 PM
The only tournaments which were 10-handed were the 5k buy-ins in the December event. I think I speak for all the operators when I say that we have a huge balancing act in terms of:-
1. Giving the players as best a poker experience possible and
2. Space and Time constraints.
For #1 we have increased chips stacks, inserted additional blind levels and of course we don't have antes in our tournaments.
The elements in #2 are extremely challenging. From a Space perspective, the main room in CR has only 10 tables and while we have made requests for (and been given) additional tables in the past, running the same tournament on 2 different levels of the casino is bound to be a pain even for someone as capable as our TD Craig Wildman. From a Time perspective, we want to finish our tournaments within 8 hours but every single event we've done the average time has been closer to 10 hours despite being strict on the breaks taken etc. Excessively long tournaments take a toll on our players who need a break to recharge and then come back the following days. This is also a problem for the dealers as that staff is stretched to the max during our tournaments and they too need the recharge as much as the players.
I've checked out the IPS thread as well where this topic has been discussed in depth so don't want to repeat myself too much. But you seem to be someone who has played a fair amount of poker and all I can say is that the Goa scene is a burgeoning one. It will someday get to a point where players will be a little more satisfied (it will never be 100% :)) as will we as tournament organisers.
Till such time the juggling act goes on...

It seems someone (or some people most likely) have leaked the password given to them in good faith. We really cannot send passwords out an hour before because it becomes too chaotic for us at the backend in case there are newbies who need to be guided on how to go about setting up their account on Full Tilt. In fact that's all the team has been doing from last evening when we sent out the email... registration followups, password help, assistance in a/c setup etc.
I guess the silver lining is that we have an international field and we hope that everyone has a good time. It is a freeroll after all :D

Well mate not everyone is net savvy and playing online poker for the first time can be an intimidating experience in itself... not just about setting up the account. Sometimes a little handholding helps and we're all about making sure players get to enjoy the game.
In a way it's going to be good coz everyone can root for the Indian players and it will be an impressive achievement to best a 900 strong field.
Go India! :)
