The PokerStars Sunday Majors have always been on the ‘to-do’ list of millions of poker players from around the world. The Indian online MTT grinders too look forward for the Sunday’s solely because of the big line-up of PokerStars tournaments that offers huge guarantees and big prizes.

One such player came agonizingly close to achieving his aim of winning a Sunday Major. With his incredible performance, young gun Danish Shaikh (cover image) battled out a field of 3,532 entrants in the PokerStars$215 Sunday Warm-Up, $500K GTD for a 3rd place finish to score his biggest career cash of $70,039. Despite the fact that TCOOP that is currently underway and offers fast paced tournaments that take one fourth of the time of a regular big field Sunday tournament, Sunday Warm-up managed to accumulate a lively participation for a total prize pool of $706,400.

After 11 hours of play Nick “FU_15” Maimone grabbed the largest share of the three-way chop ($95,529.95). But it was WCOOP champ RichieA7s who took down the Sunday Warm-Up this week for $86,263.68. Danish locked up a hefty $70,039 after the three-way deal.

After ‘sumimasen’ left in 11th place ($4,238.40) a lengthy hand-for-hand play period broke out. The next elimination was a crucial one, as the remaining players would make up the final table. With the blinds up to 65K/130K ante 13K ‘skyboy69’ shoved 1.61 million with and ‘danish7’ made the call holding pocket eights. The flop of was in favor of danish7 but ‘skyboy’ too had outs. The turn of and river closed out the tournament for skyboy69 and set up the final table action. ‘b.j.1898’ was the first causality on the final table followed by ‘TranquilMind’ in eight place. With the blinds holding at 100K/200K ante 20K, ‘vlaviusz’ was the next one to leave as his failed to match up against big slick of ‘cold_smile’ on the board of 9♣ 3♣ Q♥ J♥ A♥. ‘vlaviusz’ earned $15,894.00 for a seventh place finish. The next elimination happened eight hands later when ‘mentor1904’ moved all-in from the big blind after calling the min-raise from ‘elmelogno4’. Though ‘elmelogno4’ held a small ace in but ‘mentor904’s just made an open-ended straight draw on the board of and missed it on the river to earn $22,958.00 in sixth place. The so far consistent performer at the final table ‘elmelogno4’ finished the tournament in fifth place. He lost his final hand against Nick “FU_15” Maimone that gave FU_15 a sizable 8.5 million pot.

At this point with the remaining four players, the tournament was paused for a chop discussion but nothing materialized and after a few words across the chat box, play continued on with blinds at 125K/250K ante 25K. The four handed play went on for 20 minutes and during this time FU_15 took over the chip leader cold_smile’s huge stack and all in just three hands. That left three players vying for the $110,905 top prize.

The second attempt of chop talks went much better, likely due to FU_15’s sizable chip lead holding 22 million to RichieA7s 7.6 million and danish7’s five million. The players agreed to the deal and got the following payouts.

FU_15: $95,529.95

RichieA7s: $76,263.68

danish7: $70,039.14

They resumed action for the remaining $10,000 and the winner title. Six hands after the deal, danish put up his shortest stack of 4.5 million with . Action folded on to FU_15 who also held an ace but slightly better with . The flop of kept FU_15 in the lead and the turn sealed the fate for danish as he made an exit in 3rd place.

The heads-up was a rather surprising affair as despite FU_15 starting with 27.3 million to 7.9 million chip lead going into the heads-up play, who would have guessed it that RichieA7s would beat him down to claim the remaining prize money and the title.

On the final hand FU_15 moved all in with against RichieA7s’s pocket tens. Despite a few extra outs on the flop RichieA7s scooped away this week’s Sunday Warm-Up title and $86,263.68.
