World Poker Tour® will now fully own and operate the WPTDeepStacks brand starting with Season 4 of the tour, with WPT Enterprises, Inc. making the announcement yesterday.

DeepStacks Poker Tour, which was launched in 2012, partnered with the WPT® to form WPTDeepStacks in mid-2014. It replaced the existing WPT Regional and DeepStacks Poker Tour brands in United States and Europe. The partnership led to growth of the WPTDeepStacks tour, which according to the announcement, generated more than $10 million in total prize pools since partnering with the WPT.

“We are excited to take our relationship with the World Poker Tour to the next level,” said Chris Torina, WPTDeepStacks Executive Director. “Partnering with the World Poker Tour to form WPTDeepStacks cemented the brand as poker’s premier mid-major tour. We look forward to continuing to innovate, expand, and offer the most player-friendly tournaments at the world’s most beautiful properties.”

Echoing similar sentiments, WPT CEO Adam Pliska added, “The World Poker Tour is proud to acquire WPTDeepStacks. Over the years, Chris Torina has become a friend and a great steward of the WPT brand, and he and his team have built WPTDeepStacks into one of the most established brands in poker. WPT, bordered by the support of our parent company Ourgame, is currently looking for strategic, friendly acquisition opportunities of businesses and management teams that reflect our brand and company values. We feel WPTDeepStacks is a model of this initiative.”

Through this new partnership, WPTDeepStacks will now be able to offer bigger and better events for its playing community, including expansion to new regions and establishing new partnerships.

However, the accusation of all of the assets of WPTDeepStacks will not prevent the DeepStacks Poker Tour from operating its own events in certain regions of Canada.

Season 4 kicks off with WPTDeepStacks Hollywood at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL, featuring a $1 million guaranteed $1,100 Main Event that runs from January 19-24.

Overall, WPTDeepStacks Season 4 features 18 events in 2017, which will include a brand new location for the $1 million guaranteed WPTDeepStacks Championship, a $2,500 buy-in event that takes place from Dec 1-4 at Thunder Valley Casino Resort in Lincoln, California.
