The event attracted a massive field of 7,761 runners with the top 1,165 players making in the money. Bansal finished 377th for $4,638, Agarwal finished 653rd for $3,105 while his better half made her first-ever WSOP cash finishing 661st for $3,105. Sumit Sapra was the lone Indian survivor among the 136 remaining players and will resume Day 3 with a stack of 210,000.

Event #18: $565 Pot-Limit Omaha

The $565 Pot-Limit Omaha event drew a staggering 3,186 entries, making it the largest live PLO event ever held (and beating last year’s record by 707 entries) and outlasting them all was American Tyler Smith who secured his first bracelet along with $244,344 in prize money.

Final Table Recap

The first elimination of the day was seen after one hour of 9-handed play in Yves Kupfermunz followed by Ryan Wince who went out in eighth place.

John Dallaire finished in seventh place, courtesy Russian player Igor Sharaskin and the start of the day chip leader Jessie Bryant was the next to go. First, the eventual champion Tyler Smith doubled up through Bryant to leave him with less than one big blind, and then Sharaskin took the remainder of Bryant’s stack two hands later.

Next to fall was Czech Republic based Marek Ohnisko in fifth place followed by Scott Davies in fourth place. Both players were sent packing by Smith.

Igor Sharaskin was another aggressive player on the final table but eventually settled for third place when he moved all-in holding double-suited queens against Smith, who held ace-king and clipped an ace on the turn.

In the very next hand, Smith sealed the title and ended it all. Jason Stockfish, had an incredibly enthusiastic and steadily growing rail the entire day but he had to settle for the runners up spot after he moved all-in holding ace high but found himself behind Smith’s Ace-queen with no help forthcoming on the board.

Event #21: $1,500 8-Game Mix 6-Handed

The $1,500 8-Game Mix 6-Handed event attracted 472 hopefuls and outlasting them all was Ron Ware who had finished third in the same event last year. Ware walked away with his first bracelet along with $145,577 in prize money.

It was smooth sailing for Ware on the final table and having started the day second in chips, he soon too the chip lead and extended it further to a point where he had almost half the chips in play when play was down to 5-handed.

Final Table Recap

The first elimination of the day was Ryan Himes who went out in sixth place followed by the second shortest stack of the table Chris Vitch who managed to chip up during the first level. Vitch was unable to last much longer and busted in fifth place followed by Sachin Bhargava who got eliminated post the dinner break in a razz hand.

The two short stacks of the table i.e. Fabrice Soulier and Mike Ross then battled it out clashing twice and while Soulier doubled in the first round, the second hand was taken down by Ross and he eliminated the sole non-American player from the event.

Ware started the heads-up battle with a huge 5-2 chip advantage, however his rival proved to be a tough one to beat as he managed to narrow the gap and even managed to take the lead at one point, but Ware soon got it all.

The most remarkable hand during heads-up emerged in stud when Ware picked up Ross’ bluff by calling a bet on the seventh street with just ace-king high!

The last hand of the event saw Ross calling all-in on the turn with a flush draw and an open-ended straight draw against Ware’s top pair. The river missed all of Ross’ outs and Ware took down the title along with his first gold bracelet.
