Vinay Suchede is the PGT Main Event Champion, Kunal Chandra takes down High Rollers

The featured event at the PGT February Edition INR 25K Main Event had 58 players each putting up 25,000 INR for a shot at the title, the silver trophy and of course a share of the 14,50,000 INR prize pool, which paid out the top six players.

Early chip counts had Prabhat Mukherjea, Devendra Surana and Amant Nauhria at the top, followed by Ankit Singh, Kavin Shah, Sangeeth ‘Samohh’ Mohan and Aditya 'Intervention' Agarwal. PokerGuru Pro Team Mentors Rohit Bhalla and Ramandeep Gujral unfortunately had to exit the tourney early, losing with 55's against AK and 88's against pocket tens respectively. Team Pro Kunal Chandra too lost a big pot early in the tournament when in a 3 way showdown his   were up against Sumit Sapra’s  and Sumit Malik’s . Aces held and a few hands later KC got into a similar situation with Jacks against his opponents King’s and Queen’s respectively and that was the end of Kunal in the PGT Main Event.

Just before the break after level 8 Team Pro - Sangeeth 'Samohh' Mohan managed to maneuver himself into a possible deep run in the Main Event by doubling up against Prabhat Mukherjea who was 2nd in chips. The action saw Prabhat Mukherjea raising to 2.5K from early position. Samohh moved allin from middle position for 18K more and Prabhat made the call. Samohh’s  were up against Prabhat’s . The board ran  and Samohh doubled up but just an hour later Prabhat got back all his chips when Samohh moved all-in for 43100 from middle position after Prabhat had raised it to 6100 and Prabhat made the call. Samohh  vs Prabhat  The cards went  and Samohh was sent packing in 12th place. Vineet Bailur was unlucky to be eliminated on the money bubble going out in 7th place and was the last player to leave the tournament on Saturday.

Following were the chip counts of the 6 finalists at the end of the day’s play:

1st - YJ Kim - 249,500 chips

2nd - Sumit Malik - 163,500 chips

3rd - Prabhat Mukherjea - 154,000 chips

4th - Easwar Ramaswamy - 124,500 chips

5th - Vinay Suchede - 92,500 chips

6th - Kishore M - 56,000 chips

The 6 finalists re-convened at 5pm on Sunday i.e. 12th February and play resumed for the crowning of the PGT Main Event Champion. The first to go out was Easwar with  in a preflop allin duel against Prabhat Mukherjea's .The board ran  and that was the end of Easwar. Prabhat's success was short lived as he was the next one to be eliminated when he announced allin on the button with his entire stack of 120K and Sumit Malik in big blind made the call. Prabhat showed but Sumit had him dominated with .
Prabhat got no help from the board and hit the rails in 5th place. 
Sumit Malik was the next to go and on his last hand in the tournament he called Vinay's allin for 120K from the button.

The cards went      , Vinay's pockets held and with that we were down to the final 3 players on the final table. Action heated up as we got closer to crowning the PGT Main Event champion. In one hand we saw both Y J Kim and Vinay Suchede limp in to see a flop of   YJ Kim in small blind bets 10k, Vinay Suchede in big blind calls. The 4th street card is , YJ bets 35K, Vinay calls. On the river , YJ pushes his entire stack of 78K into the middle, Vinay takes his time before making the call. Vinay turns over   almost instantly. YJ shakes his head and say " good call, very good call!" and shows   Vinay collects the pot with the pair of 10's and YJ exits in 3rd place for a INR 235,000 payday.

The heads up between Vinay Suchede and Kishore Marimganti got off to a swingy start with chips going back and forth between the players. Finally the tournament is decided with pre-flop action: Kishore limps from the button, Vinay Suchede raises it to 45K, Kishore 3-bets it to 120K, Vinay moves allin and Kishore instantly makes the call.

The board ran      and Vinay eliminates Kishore from the tournament and is the last man standing with INR 5,50,000 in his pockets! Kishore receives INR 3,20,000 as the runner up in the PokerGuru Tour Main Event.

Kunal Chandra takes down the INR 50K PokerGuru Tour High Roller Event

The High Roller event with a buy-in of INR 50,000 saw 33 entrants, generating a prize pool well over the guaranteed 12 lacs. The deep stacked structure with Ante's from the beginning initiated a lot of action early on in the tournament. Team Pro's were particularly aggressive against each other and we saw a lot of showdowns and eliminations between them.At the end of level 10 the player chip counts heading to the final table were:

Henrique - 70100

Raj Ajmani - 98500

Bobbe Suri - 64400

Ramandeep Singh Gujral - 205000

Aditya 'Intervention' Agarwal - 54200

Rohit Batla - 57300

Naresh Veeravalli - 90800

Rohit Bhalla - 205900

Kunal Chandra - 347400

 

The first one to go was Intervention and he was followed by Bobbe Suri, Rohit Bhalla and Naresh Veeravalli all falling short of the money. The money bubble of the tournament was Rohit Bathla who busted at the hands of Kunal Chandra.  Kunal Chandra continued his good run as he eliminated Henrique Berglund in 4th place and followed it up by eliminating PokerGuru Team Mentor Ramandeep Singh Gujral in 3rd place to take the lead at the start of his heads-up match against Raj Ajmani. The heads-up match ended fairly quickly with two crucial hands:


Raj raises 25k from the button, Kunal calls from the big blind. Flop brings   , Raj bets 25K, Kunal raises it to 55000, Raj moves allin and Kunal calls.

Turn  River , Raj misses his nut flush draw and Kunal doubles up leaving Raj with only 14 big blinds. In the very next hand Kunal moves allin from the button and is called by Raj. Kunal tabled   but Raj had him dominated with   The poker gods were with Kunal as the board opens      and Kunal gets there with a three of a kind to claims the High Roller Title. Kunal wins a whopping INR 8,00,000 for his win while Raj takes home INR 4,50,000 for his runner-up finish.
