Simon Mint Wins Opening 3K Omaha Event at Poker Galactic Live Tour For ₹1.25 Lakhs

The last two years have seen a resurgence of poker in India with a slew of live and online developments that have included a number of tournaments and offerings, such as promos. Players in the country are now being treated with a new poker tournament, the Poker Galactic Live Tour that is currently being hosted at the Rockets Poker Room, Bengaluru in celebration of a newly launched poker site called Poker Galaxy.

Running from August 4 to 8, the tournament features four different events and saw its opening Nucleus INR 3K Omaha event won by regular pro Simon Mint (cover image) for ₹1.25 Lakhs yesterday.

 

Event 1 – 3K Nucleus Omaha Re-entry

The Nucleus Omaha event attracted 240 entries making up a prize pool of ₹6.48 Lakhs, exploding the announced guarantee of ₹3 Lakhs to almost double, with the top 24 finishers getting a piece of the money-action.

Several known faces could be seen in the crowd including Guruprasad Gupta, Sumit Sapra, Abhishek Panda, Nishant Sharma, Krishna and Lokesh among others.

The bubble burst on Sumit Bajaj, who busted at 25th place, eliminated by Nishant Sharma.

The final table began with chip counts as follows

1. Raag Fernandes – 193,000
2. Anudeep Srinivas – 179,500
3. Josh ‘Bucketman’ Sharma – 157,000
4. Balram Attili – 155,000
5. Simon Mint – 140,500
6. Bharat Suda – 116,500
7. Nishant Sharma – 115,000
8. Akshay George – 109,500
9. Shravan Bopanna – 45,000

The first to exit the final table was Josh Sharma at ninth place, followed by Balram Attili at eighth place. Bharat Suda then busted Raag Fernandes at seventh place and Simon eliminated Anudeep Srinivas at sixth place.

A deal was then discussed by the five remaining players for about 20 minutes, but with no unanimous decision reached, play continued as usual.

Simon Mint went on to rail Shravan Bopanna at fifth, but soon lost a huge pot to Bharat Suda, who doubled up at his expense.

Almost an hour later Simon recovered from the blow after he busted Akshay George at fourth place. A deal was once again discussed after Nishant Sharma exited at third place and it was decided to share the prize money as follows –

Winner – ₹1,25,000

Runner-Up – ₹1,12,000

It took just 11 minutes for the final hand that saw Bharat Suda moving allin with and Simon Mint called off with . The board ran out and Simon’s set of 10’s won him the title, along with the top prize of ₹1.25 Lakhs. Bharat Suda made a second place finish for ₹1.12 Lakhs.

Poker Galactic Live Tour

The inaugural tournament features four events, with an accumulative ₹34 Lakhs in guarantees. Up on the list next is the Pulsar Warm Up event today with a buy-in of ₹6,000 and a guarantee of ₹7 Lakhs. Tomorrow will see the SuperGiant ₹25K Main Event, with a huge ₹20 Lakhs guaranteed. And closing out the series on Sunday August 7; will be the Black Hole Bounty Event, with ₹4 Lakhs GTD for an entry fee of ₹5,000.
