Come Monday (August 14), poker lovers all over the world will rejoice as the immensely popular television program Poker After Dark is set to make a comeback.

The YouTube videos of Poker After Dark have always given the extra dose of inspiration to the budding players and every serious buff must have binged watched a couple of episodes. They are fun to watch and an insight of how the biggest names in the poker world play some of the biggest hands possible.

This season will be extra special as Tom ‘durrr’ Dwan will return to action joining other big names like Team PokerStars pro Daniel Negreanu, Doyle ‘Big Papa’ Brunson alongside many others.

The first episode is set to go live at 8pm on August 14, exclusively on Poker Central’s PokerGo, with following episodes to be aired on Tuesday and Wednesday at the same time. The show will continue to stream throughout the year on PokerGo, featuring the cash game and sit-and-go formats that fans will remember for years.

Monday’s premiere episode will feature Dwan, Negreanu and Antonio ‘The Magician’ Esfandiari, along with Jean-Robert Bellande, Lauren Roberts and Bill Klein. All six players will sit down with a minimum of $100,000 with the blinds at $200/$400 plus a $400 button ante.

Later episodes this season will also include different variants like Pot-Limit Omaha and other Mixed Games typically found in high-stakes rotations. Commentary for all the action will be done by popular commentator duo Ali Nejad and Nick Schulman.

Poker PROductions will again be behind the show, which originally ran from 2007 to 2011 on NBC network. There were 354 episodes, featuring 11 single-table tournaments and 11 unique cash games. The show was canceled following advertising cuts thanks to Black Friday in April 2011.

Poker PROductions Founder Mori Eskandani said, “Poker After Dark achieved some of the most breath-taking moments in poker by bringing the fans into an intimate setting up close and personal with the players. PokerGO is the perfect destination for the return of Poker After Dark and we look forward to bringing back the same spirit of the show that made it such a hit in the past.”

The episode will also mark the return of Dwan, arguably the show’s No. 1 star thanks to his aggressive style of play and the huge pots he played, and who has been largely absent from the US poker scene in the years following Black Friday.

Dwan stated in a statement, “I travel around a lot to play poker, and in Manila and Macau people ask me about those shows. All over the world people liked watching those, and every time I get asked ‘When will they be back?’ I’m excited that now, after six years, they will be back. The shows were fun, they ended up being more interesting and more fun than I expected.”

Dwan has been a regular in the cash game episodes of Poker After Dark, appearing in each of the last four seasons.

And he still fondly remembers Poker After Dark, “I won basically every hand that I played. If I called they were bluffing, if I was bluffing they folded. I’m hoping that continues,” he added.
