Rahul Agrawal (cover image) aka ‘Kidpoker14’ has had a dream run at the Aces Unlimited Summer Edition. Having won the PokerGuru Aces Summer Edition Main Event Online Satellite at 888 Poker, Rahul decided to take a step forward from online poker to try his skills at live tournaments. On his maiden appearance itself, Rahul has made an impression by taking down the 10K shooutout and finishing runners-up in the 5K Freezeout re-entry tournament. PokerGuru caught up with him to discuss his Poker Story and his experiences on playing live in Goa!

You have been a regular at most PokerGuru tournament and promotions but we know so little about you. Do tell our members a little bit about yourself and how and when you started playing poker?

I basically hail from Nagpur and I am a businessman. I started very modestly playing casually online with friends on Facebook. With time I progressed to playing online at 888poker for real money and well that is where my poker story began. It`s been 5 years now that I have been playing online poker.

Share with us you experience playing your first live tournament in Goa.

Being my first live tournament, I was very excited and was looking forward to it. Overall I am very satisfied with my performance and have realized my weaknesses which I will be working on for the next tourney. I have also come across some wonderful people / players who have helped me with my game both morally and strategically.

You had an amazing series with a win and a runner-up finish. How does it feel to have done so well in your maiden Live Poker Tournament appearance?

Ohh it was quite an experience, rather I would say a pleasant one :). I finished runners up in the 1st tournament and was quite upset with some silly mistakes and bad beats but I had decided to concentrate more and play some serious poker during the final stage. I guess my dedication and plan worked out and I could finish the tourney with a win.

Did you come with any game plan or strategy?

As such I did`nt come with any plan, being my 1st tourney. I had decided to play my natural game and enjoy the tournament and Goan beaches with some chilled beer as much as I could! (Smiles)

What motivated you to make this trip?

Being a regular online player I just came across the satellite tournament online and one thing lead to another and what better way to experience live poker and make some new friends. Also I wanted to check out the Indian poker circuit. I was quite impressed and happy to see poker getting serious headway as a serious sport.

You also won the PokerGuru Aces Unlimited Main Event Satellite on 888 Poker. How different was it playing Live?

Ohh yeah winning online tourney was nice, also was able to play with some real good poker players. Personally I prefer playing online since I don`t have to make a poker face and I like the calmness and isolation whereas in live tourneys there is lot of table talk and too many distractions for me to concentrate.

Any aspirations or future plans in Poker?

I really am looking forward to some serious poker and a career as a poker pro. I would love to play the Million dollar tourney someday and be called as a true Indian Poker Pro who does our country proud 😉

Do add any experience or memorable incident on/off the felt you feel like sharing.

On a closing note I would just like to share an insight with all my friends and all new players who would want to become a pro someday.Online gaming should be done with strict control on bankroll management. There are lot of write-ups to help you with the same and play lots of Low stake games till you finish as the winner and then move onto higher levels.

Thank you Rahul for taking the time to talk to us and we wish you the best for your Poker aspirations!
