PokerGuru Pros Samohh, Amit Varma and Intervention storm into Day 3 of the APPT Main Event

The APPT Season 5 was expected to be one of the biggest Asian Tournaments ever and it more than delivered on that promise. 575 players made for a total prizepool of HKD $15,552,600, with the top 70 runners set to receive a minimum of HKD $46,700 and the winner taking home a whopping HKD $3,772,000 (approx. ₹2.5 Crores) making this the biggest APPT event ever.

Team PokerGuru, hot on its success at the APT Goa series, came down to the APPT all guns blazing with Team Pros Sangeeth “Mohan”- APT Champion , Pulkit Kalia and Amit Varma who all managed to reach the final tables at various side events. With life changing money at stake and an impressive line-up of international superstars, the team has its eyes set on the APPT Main Event with 3 Team Pros making it into Day 3 of the Main Event with just 96 players left from a starting field of 575 runners.

In addition to the record turnouts, APPT Macau has been in the media limelight on account of the return of Phil Ivey to the Tournament circuit. Ivey who had skipped this year’s WSOP was virtually unseen on the felt in the last 6 months and made an unexpected appearance at the APPT Main Event on Day 1A. He cruised through the opening day with 51,200 chips but made a quite exit on Day 2. He was joined by fellow poker legend Johnny Chan who fared better, moving to day 3 with 244,400 chips.

Notable eliminations on Day 2 included Team PokerGuru mentors Rohit Bhalla & Raman Gujral, World Gaming Festival Poker Tournament winner Bobbe Suri, Team Pros Pulkit Kalia & Apoorva Goel and PokerStars Pros Bryan Huang, Vivian Im, Raymond Wu and Alex Chravchenko.

Singapore`s Nathaniel Seet is the current chip leader sitting on a monstrous stack of 774,500 and the Team pros surely have their work cut out for them. Day 3 of the Main Event will commence at 12:10pm tomorrow and will play down to the final table.
