Fedor Holz rose to the No. 1 spot at the Global Poker Index (GPI) rankings four weeks ago and continues his reign undisturbed. In a shuffle, Jason Mercier returns to No. 2 spot, with Steve O’Dwyer taking the former’s No. 3 spot.

As has been the past four weeks, the main reason for most of the changes is due to the World Series of Poker (WSOP), with players attending events and some like Mercier even multi-tabling with cashes accruing.

Changes among the Top 300 Indian-origin player rankings are also due to their participation at WSOP.

While Holz is sitting atop the GPI ‘Player of the Year’ leaderboard, it is Mercier who retains the top spot at the WSOP ‘Player of the Year’ rankings, with changes amidst the lower ranks.

The Global Poker League (GPL) Heat V is over and the Montreal Nationals are leading the Americas conference, while the Moscow Wolverines are at the top of the Eurasia franchises.

Action escalated this week, with three matches won in a clean sweep, led by Mustapha Kanit of the Rome Emperors.

Jason Mercier recovers two spots and is back at No. 2. Mercier has collected a total of 10 cashes at WSOP, including two bracelets and two final tables worth at least $100K.

Nick Petrangelo climbs one spot to No. 4 on points accrued by past exploits.

Bryn Kenney also moves up by a rank to No. 5. Kenney has made two cashes at WSOP this last week, with an eighth place finish in Event 24 – $10,000 H.O.R.S.E Championship for $41,383 and a 102nd place finish in Event 59 - $1,500 NLH for $7,496

David Peters moves up two spots to No. 7, fresh off his bracelet win in Event 56 - $1,500 NLH for $412,557.

Adrian Mateos continues to climb and is now at No. 9 with a third place finish in the Aria High Roller for $131,040 just last Saturday.

Steve O’Dwyer slips a place to No. 3.

Anthony Zinno falls three spots to No. 6.

Domnik Nitsche is down one place at No. 8.

Thomas Marchese slips two spots to reach the last rung i.e. No. 10.

Indian-Origin Top 300

Ankush Mandavia gains a full 18 points to reach No. 18, propelled by his cash in Event 54 – Crazy Eights 8-Handed for $2,864 at a 284th place, after his bracelet win on June 30.

Mukul Pahuja falls another two places to reach No. 30.

Nipun Java climbs 16 spots to No. 109. He recently made a 31st place finish in Event 56 – NLH for $10,514.

Pratyush Buddiga continues to climb and is up by four places to No. 111. Buddiga has also been busy at Event 56, with a 757th place finish for $1,433.

Kully Sidhu slips four places to No. 148.

Vinny Pahuja keeps sliding and is down another six places to No. 261.

2016 WSOP - GPI ‘Player of the Year’

Jason Mercier is sitting tight at the No. 1 spot with a lead of almost 600 points over his nearest competitor.

This week that second place has been taken by Justin Bonomo, who has collected six WSOP cashes amounting to almost $130K, with the latest being a runner-up finish in Event 55 - $50,000 Poker Players Championship for $801,048.

Benny Glaser has slipped to No. 5 and Michael Gathy is down to No. 10. Martin Kozlov and Paul Volpe both move up to No. 3 and No. 4 positions respectively.
