PokerGuru 3-Bet: PokerStars Releases Dates For MEGASTACKS, Festival Lille & Marbella Stops; APT Signs Streaming Deal With Hong Kong PPA & David Pham Ships Wynn Spring Classic

In this edition of PokerGuru 3-bet, we start with PokerStars, who recently expanded their MEGASTACK and Festival Series and have announced the dates for the series. The events offer additional opportunities to players to win the desirable Platinum Pass. Then we have The Asian Poker Tour (APT) that will be live streamed on Douyu channel in the Chinese language as a part of the deal that APT has signed with Hong Kong Poker Players’ Association (HKPPA). We conclude this edition with the story of David Pham who recently shipped the Wynn Spring Classic for $240,254.


PokerStars Releases MEGASTACK and Festival Lille & Marbella’s Schedule

Online poker giant PokerStars has expanded their MEGASTACK and PokerStars Festival series and added two new stops in their live tournament line-ups in France and Spain.

PokerStars has also added a trio of MEGASTACK events which will be hosted in Ireland, the U.K., and France. The festival will be returning once again to the Irish capital on April 19-22 before hitting London on April 27-29. The winners of select events will win the coveted Platinum Pass to the 2019 PokerStars Players No Limit Championship in the Bahamas.

Finally, two more PokerStars Festival events have been announced in Marbella and Lille.

PokerStars Festival Marbella (Spain) will run through June 4-10 where a Platinum Pass will be awarded to the winners of the Main Event, Marbella Cup, and High Roller.

PokerStars MEGASTACK Gujan-Mestras (France) will take place from June 27 to July 1 followed by the PokerStars Festival Lille (France) where three more Platinum Passes will be awarded.


Asian Poker Tour & Hong Kong Poker Players’ Association Sign Streaming Deal

The Asian Poker Tour (APT) will be live streamed in the Chinese language, thanks to a new deal signed with the Hong Kong Poker Players’ Association (HKPPA). Under the new deal, some of the events of the APT will be streamed to fans in mainland China and Hong Kong through HKPPA’s new Douyu channel.

HKPPA will also host satellites at their poker room to support various APT events throughout the year, starting with the APT Championships Macau 2018 which will be be hosted at the Macau Billionaire Poker room in the Babylon Casino from April 25 to May 6.

The HKPPA looks to promote the sport of poker in Hong Kong and beyond. It is managed by seasoned poker pros and marketing experts, hosting regular free-to-play poker tournaments and free classes to give the general public a taste of the game.


David Pham Ships Wynn Spring Classic For $240,254

The 2018 Wynn Spring Classic was scheduled between February 19 and March 11 2018, at the Wynn Las Vegas. The festival is wrapping its schedule this weekend, but it has already been deemed a success.

The 2018 Wynn Classic $1,600 Championship Event easily surpassed its $1 million guarantee by attracting 984 runners and created a massive $1,431,720 prize pool. A total of 107 players cashed at the event.

The tournament came down to two accomplished players in legend David “The Dragon” Pham and young gun Kurt Jewell, a student of Chip Leader Coaching. Eventually, the Dragon prevailed to capture the $240,254 first-place prize while Jewell had to settle for second place and $158,250 in consolation prize.

The early eliminations at the final table came in Clayton Maguire and Alexis Shankle as they both exited in ninth and eighth place respectively.

Alberto SabogaliJulian Parmann and Noam Muallem were the next players to hit the rail in seventh, sixth and fifth followed by Andy Su in fourth place.

Three-handed play ended after Danny Wong busted in third place.

Heads-up, David Pham went against Kurt Jewell and the former came out on top to take down the title and the first place purse.
