Seems like the poker community is in for a treat once again as one of the most historic events in poker world is returning. We are talking about the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA), which is set to make its comeback in January 2018 after being on ice for a year.

Last year, PokerStars overhauled their live tournament model, unifying and consolidating their worldwide circuits under PokerStars Championship and PokerStars Festival banners. That saw the retirement of the PCA, long a marquee name in the poker world and an attractive destination for satellite qualifiers, became PokerStars Championship Bahamas. But PokerStars has now decided to get things back as they were.

According to PokerStars Director of Corporate Communications Eric Hollreiser, it was decided on the basis of feedback they had received.

Hollreiser wrote in an official statement, “This feedback included suggestions that we restore the PCA name and improve the quality of that event to reflect the great heritage and unique experience that made PCA one of the most-anticipated poker events of the year. We’re restoring the name and reinvigorating the event to ensure it remains a premier poker festival.”

While PokerStars was excited to make that announcement, they also realized that it’s not the name that makes an event well loved, but the detail and spirit involved and so they decided to make few changes too.

“We will also increase the promotions around PCA in order to bring even more people and make qualifying for packages as exciting as we can. We are committed to sending at least 400 players to this must-play event,” Hollreiser added.

The event, which began way back in 2004 on a cruise ship, is set to return for its 15th year at the familiar Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. It is expected to run from January 6-14. The ocean-themed resort features a variety of accommodations built around Aquaventure, a 141-acre waterscape, which includes fresh and saltwater lagoons, pools, marine habitats, and water slides and river rides.

The $100,000 Super High Roller tournament will start the nine-day extravaganza in style with $50,000 and $25,000 High Roller events also to be on the schedule. Plans are on to raise the buy-in back to its old, higher price point of $10,300 for the Main Event.

In further efforts to cater to players, PokerStars will be reducing rake on a number of tournaments. Anything with a buy-in of $10,000 or more will be capped at $300, and anything with levels of 19 minutes or less will have rake chopped in half. PokerStars estimates an extra $300K will be pumped back into prize pools with these cuts.

Following player feedback, a streamlined and tailored schedule with more than 30 tournaments has been added to focus on offering longer levels on tournaments (40 minute and up).

To make the event more popular, PokerStars will be bringing one hundred ‘special guests’ to PCA where winners from our past and present will also be invited.

There will be a wealth of additional player activities on offer away from the tables including daily Q&A sessions with Team PokerStars Pros and lots of fun competitions.

The icing on the cake for the spectators will be to see a live face-to-face battle at the poker tables between two of the most iconic brand ambassadors for PokerStars i.e. the world’s fastest man Usain Bolt and the world’s funniest man Kevin Hart. The duo have been outsmarting each other in the biggest social media battle of the year under the #GameOn hashtag and its sure to add to the attractions of the series apart from the mammoth prize money.
