Macau Poker Cup 25: Team India Picks Up Several Cashes in Opening Week; Kunal Patni, Anil Adiani & Rohit Bhalla Make Day 2 in Record-Breaking Baby Dragon

The Macau Poker Cup (MPC) 25 kicked off on August 26 at the PokerStars LIVE Macau poker room and is now in its ninth day, with as many events finding winners. The schedule features 22 events with the highlight Red Dragon Main Event scheduled to get underway tomorrow.

The HK$7,000 buy-in Baby Dragon got underway yesterday, shattering it`s previous record with 575 players registering for the event. “The Baby Dragon result has far exceeded what we expected and we already had high expectations to begin with,” said APPT President Mark Blake on the turnout.

 

Indian Participation

Indian players are present in strong numbers with Kunal Patni, Shazman Neville Shroff, Anil Adiani, Dhaval Mudgal, Raghav Bansal, Rohit Bhalla, Pradeep Singh, Vishal Mehta, Yuvraj Singh, Ramesh Rao T, Ganesh Kompella, Sunil Mundhra, Mohit Gupta, Yash Dugar, Tanuj Moorjani and Kamal Joshi all seen in action at the series.

The team has notched up a list of cashes already with Shazman Neville Shroff picking up two scores i.e. 5th place in Event 4 – HK$2,500 Knockout for HK$16,250 and 12th place in Event 7 – HK$3,000 NLH for HK$6,910.

Pradeep Singh opened the innings for the team with a final table finish in the opening event. He eventually finished 8th in Event 1 – HK$2,000 Deepstack NLH for HK$11,860.

Two other pros Raghav Bansal (11th for HK$11,200) and Dhaval Mudgal (14th for HK$8,900) cashed in Event 8 – HK$4,000 NLH 6-Max.

The record-breaking Baby Dragon drew a massive 575 runners yesterday and almost the entire Indian contingent present in Macau was seen in action. However only Kunal Patni (68,700), Anil Adiani (28,200) and Rohit Bhalla (26,600) managed to make it among the 85 survivors for Day 2.

Here is a look at some of the side event results so far:

 

Event 1: $2,000 Deepstack NLH ($200,000 Guarantee)

The $2,000 (1,800+200) buy-in tournament attracted 209 players, creating a prize pool of $364,914. China’s Xiao Lin outlasted the field to take home the top prize of $364,914 defeating Ta-wei Tou heads-up. India`s Pradeep Singh made an 8th place finish for $11,860.

 

Event 2: $5,000 Kickoff ($500,000 Guarantee)

China`s Xin Chen was the last player standing in the 154-player-field and took home $155,700 following a heads-up deal. The runner-up USA`s Kevin Zhehao Zhang collected $130,000.

 

Event 3: $500 Flipout (re-entry)

Lijun Cai topped the 140-player field for $15,830 in Event 2 from the prize pool of $59,752. Hong Kong`s Anthony Man Chun Wong finished runner-up for $10,742.

 

Event 4: $2,500 Knockout

The $2,500 tournament registered 138 entries creating a prize pool $232,185 with an additional HK$69,000 awarded in bounties. Japan’s Takashi Shiono took down the event for $47,715 following a three-handed deal. Shazman Neville Shroff from India finished 5th for $16,250.

 

Event 5: $2,000 Deepstack PLO (re-entry)

66 players generated a prize pool of $115,236 in Event 5. Chinese Taipei`s Wei En Shih took down the event for $38,026.

 

Event 6: $1,500 NLH (1 re-entry)

Chinese player Qunxiong He won the $1,500 tournament defeating 149 players for a payday of $50,715 from the prize pool of $195,115.

 

Event 7: $3,000 NLH

Huang Jung-wei cracked the 132-player field to win the title and $80,000 top prize. India`s Shazman Neville Shroff added another score with his 12th place finish netting him $6,910.

 

Event 8: $4,000 NLH 6-max

Shigeo Haseba bested 128 entries to take down the event for $122,876. Two Indian pros cashed in the event; Raghav Bansal finished 11th for $11,200 and Dhaval Mudgal took 14th place for $8,900.

 

Event 9: $5,000 Megastack ($500,000 Guarantee)

Australia`s Pachara Wongwichit is the biggest winner at the series so far, having won Event 9 – $5,000 Megastack for $321,245. Wongwichit came out on top among 313 players to take the lion`s share of the $1,366,245 prize pool.
