Macau Poker Cup 23: Shashank Jain Chip Leader on Day 1D of Red Dragon Main Event; Dhaval Mudgal and Danish Shaikh Cash in Side Events

The final entry-flight Day 1D broke all records for the summer-edition of the MPC 23 Red Dragon, Main event with 430 players hitting the tables. Day 1d also saw the highest number of Indian players participate in the event. Abbasali Hararwala, Nikhil Maheswari, Akash Malik, Satchit Kapur, Devang Shah, Apoorva Goel, Sukhpreet Gurudatta, Shashank Jain, Kuldeep Pawar, Romit Advani, Aditya Sushant, Sahil Agarwal, and Amit Jain all entered the event on the last starting flight.

Of them, Shashank Jain (cover image) made it to the top of the Day 1D chip counts with 171,400 in chips. Nikhil Maheswari was 10th with 117,800 chips on Day 1D. The only other Indians to make it through the day were Devang Shah with 42,400 chips and Amit Jain with 32,900 chips.

Raaj Chandra Mohan who was 2nd in chips on Day 1B with 129,900, will make the fifth Indian playing the Main Event on Day 2 today.

The MPC 23 also saw Event 11 – $5,000 NLH play out its final day. Danish Shaikh made an 8th place finish in the event and tweeted about it,

There was also another side event, the HK $3,000 Midnight Turbo MTT and Dhaval Mudgal made a 3rd place finish. He too was constantly tweeting his progress in the event,

“FT of the midnight turbo 2nd in chips but it’s a 6bb average we got 15bb @Thrill_India”

HK $12,000 Red Dragon Main Event – Day 1D

The final entry-flight day saw the largest turnout of 430 players, taking the total entries to 945 players and creating a prize pool of HK $9,899,820 (US $1,275,000). Only 100 players survived to make Day 2. This number of entries was the highest recorded in any summer-edition of the Red Dragon Main event held till date. The last record crowd had been of 808 entries at MPC 21.

Day 2 will see the survivors of all entry-flights vie for a share of the prize pool and only the top 117 will make the money.

Several international pros played Day 1D, but ultimately, India`s Shashank Jain ended with the largest stack with 171,400. Shashank will start Day 2, as the largest stack, and close behind him is Zhe Zhang of China, who has 164,400 in chips. Both these stacks are higher than those held by chip leaders from Days 1A, 1B and 1C.

Only three other Indian players made it to Day 2. These were Nikhil Maheswari with 117,800, Devang Shah with 42,400 and Amit Jain with 32,900 in chips.
