Intervention wins PGT ₹5K Re-buy Tournament

PGT event 2 saw 43 contenders battling it out aboard Casino Royale for a share of the ₹720,00 prize pool and the PGT Season 2 Silver Trophy. The tournament had an buy-in of ₹5000 with the option to rebuy anytime during the 1st 4 levels of play and an optional add-on at the end of Re-buy period.

The event saw several regulars in attendance. Notables in the fray were APT Goa Champion – Sangeeth ‘Samohh’ Mohan who missed PGT event 1 and came directly to the Casino from the Airport to join Event 2. Team Mentors Intervention, Ramandeep Gujral, Rohit Bhalla were joined by PGT December Champion – Amant Nauhria. Tournament regulars Kavin Shah and Amit Jain alongside Team Pro Amit Varma in Event 2, with all of them having their sights set on the top prize. The guarantee was once again topped by the 43 entrants, who made a total of 66 rebuy’s and 35 add-on’s, making for a total prizepool of ₹7,20,000.

Ramandeep, Sangeeth and Intervention were amongst the early chipleaders with 27475, 18000 and 16900 chips respectively. Then a rare event occurred in the poker room: Shawn Chatterton from Kolkata made a royal flush when all-in against Lenny! Lenny tabled while Shawn showed on a board. Shawn`s luck didn’t last long as later in the night Shawn hit the rails on the money bubble with against Aditya Sushant’s on a board of . Sushant hit a straight and with that the Kolkata boy was sent packing in 6th place just shy of the money! Devendra Surana who came to final table at the shortest stack managed to outlive 4 eliminations eventually finishing in 5th place for a payday of ₹50,000. Tournament Regular and Mr. Consistent – Husain Lakdawala finished 4th and it was 3 way for the title between Aditya ‘Intervention’ Agarwal, Amit Varma and Aditya Sushant making it a Team PokerGuru 3 way of sorts!

In the last hand before the break, PokerGuru Pro Amit Varma opened with a raise of 6500 from the button, Aditya Sushant in small blind re-raised it to 16500, Amit made it 34500 more to go and Aditya moved allin for 126,200 and Amit called.

Flop gets Aditya in the driver`s seat with Ace pair, Turn is and Amit was looking for a Jack and the Team PokerGuru Rail woke up the entire Card Room with its cheering as the River brought Amit the much needed and with that Aditya was left crippled with just 200 chips only to be eliminated the very next hand. We spoke to Sushant after the event and he commented “I really wanted to play heads-up with Adi but I am happy with 3rd place, hope to do better over the weekend”.

The heads-up match between Amit Varma and Aditya ‘Intervention’ Agarwal saw a long drawn battle with both trading blows for over 90 mins. In the final hand of the tournament we saw Amit Varma move allin from the button with over 90,000 chips and Intervention in big blind position made the call.

And we see the final board of the tournament which opens , Intervention manages to hold on to his lead knocking out Amit Varma in 2nd place for ₹165,000. A strong start to the series for Intervention who cashes ₹3,20,000 for his 1st place finish tonight, hot on the heels of his runners-up finish yesterday.
