Indian Bull Run at APPT 9 Manila Continues; Dhaval Mudgal Makes Runner-Up Finish in Event 6, Rohit Bhalla, Kanishka Samant & Sameer Rattonsey Score

APPT 9 Manila is running in full throttle at PokerStars LIVE Manila and as we write, eight events are over. The Indian Team has been performing with a gusto that continues, even as PokerStars Team Pro Aditya Agarwal is now at Manila and ready to plunge into action today in the Main Event.

A large Indian contingent saw Dhaval Mudgal take off to a fabulous start in the initial events, with cashes in Events 1 & 2, including a final table finish in the latter. Dhaval kept up the pace with another deep run in Event 5 for a 26th place finish, making ₱3,300. Not content, Dhaval then went on to make a runner-up finish in Event 6- ₱5,000 Freezeout for ₱138,180. Rohit Bhalla and Kanishka Samant also cashed in the event.

Late entrant, Sameer Rattonsey also cashed in Event 7, along with Kanishka Samant who made it to the final table in the event.

In this edition, we bring you the highlights of Events 5, 6,7 & 8.

 

Event 5 – 2,500 KO Bounty

Among the several Indian players in Event 5, Dhaval Mudgal once again made his presence count, as he made it to the money, finishing in 26th place for a min-cash of ₱3,300.

The event was won by Singapore’s See Ming Siong for ₱83,000. Only the top 27 players made the money from a prize pool of ₱410,634, which had an additional ₱125,500 awarded in bounties, created from the 251 entries.

 

 

Event 6 – 5,000 NLH Freezeout

192 players bought into this event for a prize pool of ₱838,080 in this event. Dhaval Mudgal came within striking distance to take down the event, but eventually had to settle for a runner-up finish after Philippines-based Jose Drilon won the event for ₱209,400. Dhaval won ₱138,180 for his efforts.

Notable pro Samad Razavi was also at the final table and made a sixth place finish for ₱46,100.

Rohit Bhalla also cashed the event at 12th place for ₱14,700, while Kanishka Samant made a 19th place finish for ₱8,400.

 

 

Event 7 –₱25,000 6-Max Freezeout

Chin Wei Chen from Taiwan took down Event 7 for ₱635,805. Railbirds back home had reason to cheer with Kanishka Samant and Sameer Rattonsey both making a deep run in the event.

Sameer scored on his first appearance in the series, when he finished 12th in the event for ₱63,800.

Fellow countryman Kanishka Samant did even better by making it on the final table. Kanishka got unlucky when his shove with Ace-King was snapped by an opponent’s King-Queen, who completed a broadway straight on the board. Kanishka took seventh place for ₱95,800.

“Was shortest stack and found a good spot getting it in with ak vs kq, next time!”– said Kanishka after his elimination.

 

 

Event 8 – 10,000NLH Freezeout

178 players joined the action in Event 8 and Austria`s Manuel Blaschke was the last player standing at the end of play. Blaschke took home ₱388,640 for his efforts.

Most of the Indian contingent participated in the ₱25,000 buy in freezeout event but all were railed before the money bubble.

Team PokerStars Pro Bryan Huang finished 9th for ₱38,800.

Today marks the first entry flight day of the ₱50,000 Main Event and several Indian players are expected to join the action.
