Husain Lakdawala is the PGT May Edition Champion

The featured event of the PokerGuru Tour May Edition saw 63 runners putting up the INR 25,000 buy-in making for a prize pool of INR 15,75,000 (100% payouts) with INR 6,25,000 going to the winner. The event was played out across 2 days: on May 12th the tournament played down the money i.e. from 63 players to the final six, who returned on May 13th to battle it out for the Main Event title. Goa based Tournament Regular – Husain Lakdawala was the last man standing and maneuvered himself to the top spot on the final table for a well deserved win!

 

At the end of day 1 it was the Young Gun of Poker – Nitish Gupta who had collected the most chips – 265,000, with Subhash Goenka having the lowest stack of 46,500.

 

 

Chip counts at the end of Day 1:

1st - Nitish Gupta - 265,000 chips

2nd - Kishore Marimganti - 201,500 chips

3rd - Krishna M - 186,500 chips

4th - Husain Lakdawala - 158,500 chips

5th - Sanjay Lawrence - 86,500 chips

6th - Subhash Goenka - 46,500 chips

Lawrence Sanjay zoomed to the chiplead within the first hour of play, first after doubling up with  against Krishna's ,and then by making trip Jacks holding  on  against Nitish Gupta, consolidating his chiplead to 275k.

The short-stacked Subhash managed to get an early double up but couldn't hold on. In a pre-flop all-in his  was dominated by Gupta's  and he was eliminated in 6th place.

With all players but Lawrence playing conservatively, the blinds move up and force the players to make a move before being blinded off. Kishore M. is the next one to be eliminated when calling all-in holding  against Husain Lakdawala's all-in with .The flop opens ,both players hit a flush but as Lakdawala has the higher kicker, Kishore M. is eliminated in 5th place.

Shortly after Kishore got eliminated, we witness another elimination at the hands of Husain Lakdawala, where he moves all-in from the small blind with  and gets a caller in Krishna SM from the big blind with . The board shows no surprises and Krishna is eliminated in 4th place, taking home INR 150,000.

The most active player at the table, Sanjay Lawrence, is the next one to leave the felt, after first losing most of his chips on a gutsy bluff - On a flop of , Husain Lakdawala re-raises a 51k bet by Lawrence, upon which Lawrence announces all-in. Husain makes the call and tables a pair of Kings with , and the entire room is left in confusion when Lawrence shows  for complete air! Lawrence is now the shortest stacked of the three but manages to double-up twice before being eliminated by Husain Lakdawala,The heads-up duel between Nitish Gupta and Husain Lakdawala begins with Husain in the lead with a 3-to-1 chiplead over Nitish.

The heads-up duel lasted a few hands and in the final hand of the tournament, Nitish went all-in holding  and Husain called with . The flop brings , putting Nitish in the lead, the turn was an  opening up the possibility of a straight, and the river got Husain one of the cards he needed: the  and Husain Lakdawala wins the PokerGuru Tour Main Event. Runner-up Nitish Gupta wins INR 4 Lacs for his efforts, and Husain Lakdawala takes home INR 6,25,000 and the PGT Champion Silver Trophy, along with a #2 position on the PGT Season 2 Player-of-the-Year Leaderboard!
