Dan Lowery Takes Down WSOP Circuit Choctaw Main Event For $258,784

The WSOP Circuit Choctaw Main Event attracted a total 908 entries to create a hefty prize pool of nearly $1.4 million with the top 99 places making it in the money. Besting the tough field was Dan Lowery (cover image) who pocketed $258,784, one of the largest prizes claimed on the Circuit this year along with his sixth Circuit ring!

Lowery continues his trailblazing run this year as he earlier finished second at the first-ever Hard Rock Tulsa Main Event for over $100K. He claimed his fifth WSOPC ring at Harvey’s Lake Tahoe just last month.

Those who managed to score but couldn’t reach the nine-handed final table included Marshall White, Jonathan Hilton, Maurice Hawkins, Aaron Massey, Kurt Jewell, Andy Hwang, Mike Cordell and Prince Gaspard.

Venkata Chinta was the first to fall and then Walter Rodriguez scored an elimination after he busted Kevin Eyster. Eyster ran his king-queen into the ace-queen of Rodriguez and settled for an eighth place finish.

The next casualty was Chance Steed who was joined at the rail by start-of-day leader Jon Hanner. Hanner found himself all in with against eventual champion Lowery’s . Hanner caught an ace on the flop but unfortunately for him it came with a king, relegating him to the rail at sixth place.

Mason Vieth was then sent packing as his failed to beat the of Jared Hemingway.

It took nearly 50 hands for the next player to fall and incidentally it was Hemingway who hit the rail. He jammed with and Rodriguez called with . Rodriguez hit a full boat on the flop to bust Hemingway in fourth place.

The eventual champion Lowery then eliminated Schwarmann with against the latter’s to set up a long and grueling heads-up battle against Walter Rodriguez which lasted almost 60 hands.

Lowery started the duel trailing in chips and battled back to get even and eventually took a solid lead to finish his opponent off. He hammered Rodriguez down to just over 10 big blinds and then got lucky with against to seal the deal.

Post his win, Lowery said, “It’s the biggest year I’ve ever had. It’s the biggest year I could dream of. A lot of people say that I’m hard to play against. It’s not because I play great. It’s because I play a little unorthodox at times. It doesn’t matter to me. I’m getting the results and as long as I’m feeding these babies, that’s all that matters to me.”
