DPT Nov, 2016: Gautam Sachdeva Crowned Main Event Champion; Masood Shaikh Ships Bounty Side Event

Two lucky winners raced past the numerous notables on Sunday night to emerge victorious at the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) November Edition. 30-year old Gautam Sachdeva won the DPT 30K Main Event. The Gurgaon resident overcame Mumbai-based pro Kanishka Samant at heads up to claim the title and the winning sum of ₹13.04 Lakhs. Samant made a second place for ₹8.21 Lakhs.

In the other side event on Sunday, Masood Shaikh took down the 15K Bounty event for ₹4.32 Lakhs after defeating a field of 160 players.

 

30K Main Event – Day 2

Gautam Sachdeva came out of the cold to take down the 30K Main Event for the top prize of ₹13.04 lakhs. The event drew 161 entries and the top 18 finishers collected a piece of the ₹48.3 Lakhs prize pool.

Day 2 began at 3 pm with Kanishka Samant (163,000) leading the 30 survivors. Dhaval Mudgal was at second place with 158,000 in chips.

Eliminations began almost immediately with Vikas Singh, Ankit Agarwal and Sumit Sapra being some of the early exits of the day.

In less than two and a half hours, the money bubble was reached, when Mudgal eliminated Sameer Chaturvedi in 19th place. The hand began with Mudgal raising to 13,000 and the other players folding, except for Chaturvedi who went all-in with . Mudgal called with and the board delivered and Chaturvedi was relegated to the rails on the money bubble.

The money line began with Atul Khanna who exited at 18th place, followed by Amit Jain at 17th place and that was where Sachedva first came into the limelight. Sachdeva’s overpowered Jain’s with a on the river for the winning flush.

Eliminations continued and two hours later a final table of nine was formed, after Gautam Sachdeva railed Anil Gulati at 10th place.

The board opened and Gulati was out at 10th place for ₹72,500.

Early on Sachdeva not only took the first elimination in lowest stack Ankit Wadhawan, but also went on to double up through Vikas Mantri. Wadhawan was out at ninth place for ₹108,700.

Another player making aggressive moves was Nitin Jain, who next busted Mudgal at eighth place. Pre-flop, Mudgal moved all-in for 148,000 and all folded, as Jain called.

The board had more kings with giving Jain trips and an unlcuky Mudgal went out taking home ₹1,44,900 for his efforts.

Akash Masand and Anup Palod were next to go at seventh and sixth place respectively. Nitin Jain again emerged to rail Pranay Kapoor at fifth place taking his chip lead to over the 800+ mark, with his closest competitor Vikas Mantri having 630k. Samant held close to 625k in chips, while Gautam Sachdeva was the shortest of the lot with 300k.

Jain next targeted Mantri and busted him with against the latter’s on a board that upheld the kings. Mantri exited at fourth place with ₹6,15,800 for consolation.

However three-way action saw the end of Jain as he was the first to succumb at third place collecting ₹6,15,800, with Samant getting ₹8,21,000 and Sachdeva claiming the title.

15K Bounty

It was another good turnout of 160 players at the DPT 10K + 5K Bounty event, with regular names such as Madan Kumar, Amit Ajwani, Sahil Agarwal and Aditya Sushant, all in attendance. Also spotted on the tables were the Adda52 Pros Amit Jain, Nikita Luther, Tarun Goyal and Kunal Patni.

Action was fast and furious with only 54 players remaining in the field after barely a few hours of play.

Amit Sur was the first to cash at 18th place for ₹16,000. Sur was busted by Kunal Patni, when his failed to improve against the latter’s .

By 4 am a nine-handed final table was formed with Ronak Agarwal having the chip lead, but it was Masood Shaikh going full steam ahead.

DPT High Roller champion Gagandeep Malik who had been pushing forward relentlessly saw his tournament run end at ninth place for ₹36,000. He was eliminated by none other than Shaikh, who eventually won the event.

Shaikh moved all-in with pre-flop as Malik with called. The board delivered and Shaikh came out on winning side of the flip!

Shaikh went on to eliminate Vikas Singh at eighth place and after Rakesh Karadi was ousted at seventh place, he railed Kunal Patni at sixth. Sahil Agarwal exited at fifth place and by then Shaikh had an overwhelming lead of 561,000, with others way behind.

It took an hour for the next elimination, which was Ronak Agarwal, whose were dominated by Masood’s on a board of . Agarwal left at fourth place with ₹160,000 to show for his deep run.

15 minutes later Mitul Mehta experienced the brunt of Masood’s run and was out at third place with ₹2,04,000 in prize money.

Heads up lasted a little longer, but it was Shaikh who was in control. On the final hand of the tournament, Aditya G announced all-in with from the button and Shaikh with instantly called from the big blind. The board opened and Shaikh got there with a flush to win the title and the top prize of ₹4,32,000.
