The Asian Poker Tour (APT) Philippines III is now deep into its nine-day schedule, with the first flight of the Main Event over and Vietnam’s Van Sang Nguyen bagging the largest stack of 195,400. Right on his heels is Indian-origin Dhanesh Chainani with 182,900 in chips and Kunal Patni has also made Day 2 with 71,300.
Spartan Poker qualifier Rakesh Kalla and Dhaval Mudgal are playing Day 1B of the Main Event today.
In the meantime, Event 5 – $440 Head Hunter 100/Bounty found a winner in JC Sayo, who took home $11,260. Event 7 – OFC Pineapple Shootout 36 Max saw Kazuki Sazaki collect the title and a winning payout of $2,430.
Next up are Event 9 – No Limit Hold’em 1 Day and Event 10 – Ante Only Turbo scheduled for today.
Day 1A of the Main Event drew 76 entries and at the end only 42 made it to Day 2. Leading them will be Van Sang Nguyen with 195,400. Singapore’s Dhanesh Chainani is at second place with 182,900.
Among the Indian players, Kunal Patni made it through to Day 2 with 71,300 at 27th place on the chip counts. Abhishek Jalan was unable to make it, eliminated by Guam’s Toniyoung Degracia.The fatal hand saw her vanquish Jalan’s on a board that sent out .
31 players availed of the Main Event Bubble Protection, as the day began and Chainani could be seen taking the lead early on with several eliminations. Despite Chainani’s aggression, Nguyen claimed several pots towards the end of the day to grab the lead.
Korea’s Gyeong Byeong Lee, Singapore’s Feng Zhao, Japan’s Iori Yogo, Malaysia’s Alex Lee, Korea’s Sim Jae Kyung, and Canada’s Linh Tran are some of the notables who have made it to Day 2.

Event 5 – $440 Head Hunter 100/Bounty
Day 2 of the Head Hunter began with the final eight players resuming play and ultimately JC Sayo overcame a chip disadvantage to collect the title for a winning sum of $11,260.
Sayo found a crucial hand at the start of the day, when his overcame Vietnam’s Truong Manh Hung’s , to take a huge chip lead. Thereafter, Sayo received another big boost when his pocket jacks held against Tone’s pocket nines.
By three-handed play, Sayo had bypassed chip leader Yoichi Fujiya and eliminated Ceesvin Abdulla at third place.
Heads up saw Fujiya all in with against Sayo’s . The board blanked out and Sayo was declared champion!

The $1,100 buy-in event attracted 24 hopefuls creating a prize pool of $6.980. Japan`s Kazuki Sasaki defeated fellow countryman Jun Funabashi to collect the winning purse of $2,430 and the trophy.
