APT Macau 2016: Kevin Tse Leads Day 1A of Main Event; Duy Ho Wins NLH 1 & Vladimir Dobrovolskii Ships High Rollers

Action at the Asian Poker Tour (APT) Macau escalated with the start of the HKD 22,000 Main Event, which saw Kevin Tse (cover image) emerge the chip leader on Day 1A with 179,900 chips.

Side events continued and at the No Limit Hold’em 1, it was Duy Ho, who picked up the title for a payday of HKD 54,200, while Russian pro Vladimir Dobrovolskii took down the High Rollers for HKD 388,000.

On the agenda today is the last entry flight Day 1B for the Main Event, as well as the No Limit Hold’em 1 Day event and the Deep Stack Turbo.

 

HKD 22,000 Main Event – Day 1A

Only 24 players survived Day 1A of the Main Event and Hong Kong’s Kevin Tse bagged the largest stack of 179,900 at the end of the day. Tse took the initiative early on and in a crucial hand got a full house with his on a board of to get a huge lead.

At second place on the counts was UK’s Daniel Tang with 138,600 and in third position was Spain’s Saul Oliver Fortea with 113,800 in chips.

The day saw several notables at the event, including defending champion, Norway’s Henrik Tollefsen, who is still in the fray with a good stack. Others surviving to Day 2 include past APT champions Feng Zhao (Singapore) and John Tech (Philippines) along with New Zealand pro Thomas Ward and Russia’s Vladimir Dobrovolskii.

 

No Limit Hold’em 1

The event drew 50 hopefuls creating a prize pool of HKD 145,500, with the top five finishers making a piece of the money. UK’s Duy Ho won the event after defeating Australia’s Marcus Maher heads up for HKD 54,200.

After a low profile most of the way, Ho came out at six-handed play to decimate chip leader SJ Kim’s stack and eliminating opening event winner Lim Yo Hwan on the bubble.

At three-handed play a deal was struck with Mongkol Kongpan and Maher agreeing to settle for HKD 32,000 each with Ho getting the larger share and the title.

High Rollers

It was Russian pro Vladimir Dobrovolskii’s first time at the APT Macau and he conquered the High Rollers, defeating 16 players for a payout of HKD 388,000 and his first APT title.

Dobrovolskii fended off two tough pros in the final three-handed play, facing Bulgaria’s top pro Dimitar Danchev and one of Malaysia’s noted pro`s Ying Lin Chua. The chip lead swung between the three pros until Chua grabbed the lead but Dobrovolskii came at par by eliminating Danchev.

Heads up started with Chua and Dobrovolskii on par but the former soon wrestled the advantage to his corner. A crucial hand saw Dobrovolskii with against Chua’s . Both players moved all in preflop to have the board reveal giving Dobrovolskii a two pair for monster pot.

The final hand came soon after and Dobrovolskii with dominated Chua’s , with the board going dry.
