APT Kickoff 2017: Korea`s Byun Choul Seung Wins Charity Event, NLH Welcome Event Down to Final Eight

The APT Kickoff 2017 series got off to an encouraging start yesterday at Resorts World Manila with Korea`s Byun Choul Seung (cover image) taking down the first trophy of the series in the Ante Up for Charity event.

The series opener NLH Welcome Event attracted 120 entries and is down to a final table of eight players, who will return today to play down to a champion! 

India`s Kunal Patni joined the series yesterday at the NLH welcome event, but made an early exit.

 

NLH Welcome Event

The opening event at the APT Kickoff 2017, the NLH Welcome Event registered 120 entries collecting a total prize pool of US$17,460. Among the notables present at the series was APT POY 2016 champion Iori Yogo, APT RPOY Korea champion Hung-Sheng Lin, pros Tetsuya Tsuchikawa and former APT Main Event champions In Chul Sin, Joven Huerto, and Alexis Lim. Adda52 Team Pro Kunal Patni also joined the action at the series yesterday. However, all of the aforementioned pros failed to make it in the money.

The opening event resumes today at 1pm with the Final 8 players returning to play on the featured RFID table. The final table will be broadcasted on the APT Twitch channel.

Ante Up for Charity

23 players signed up for the Ante Up for Charity event raising U$1,150 for the Cancer Warriors Foundation, a non-profit organization for the support and advocacy of children with cancer.

Korea`s Byun Choul Seung made quick work of his heads-up opponent Yul Maravilla from Philippines with his card 1card 1 overpowering the latters card 1card 3 on the board card 1card 1card 3card 3card 3, to win the first trophy at the series.
