The second starting flight at APPT 9 Manila Main Event drew 325 entries, which combined with the 260 entries on Day 1A created an overall field of 585 entries, making it the largest international Main Event field ever held in the Philippines. This edition has smashed the previous record of 430 set by APPT in 2010.

The 585-entry field comprised of 417 unique players with the rest consisting of re-entries from the two starting flights.

“This is going to change the way people perceive poker in the Philippines,” said Gerardo ‘Hill’ Alim, the PokerStars LIVE Manila Poker Room Manager. “I’m blown away by the turnout in the Main Event which was truly international with 41 countries represented.”

“But the preliminary side events also had more than a thousand players and there are still more side events over the weekend. The City of Dreams Manila has been an amazing supporter of PokerStars and the feedback from players has been outstanding,” he added.

Many Indian players joined the action on Day 1B. While Rajeev Kanjani and Sameer Rattonsey fired the first bullet in the Main Event on Friday, many from the Team rode in on multiple bullets. Others who re-entered on Day 1B were Aditya Sushant, Madhav “Maddy” Gupta, Shravan Chhabria, Uday Bansal, Haresh “Kavish” Kukreja, Amit Jain, Dhaval Mudgal and Nikhil Maheshwari.
