The Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) has once again returned to Manila, with APPT 9 Manila taking flight yesterday at PokerStars LIVE poker room, housed inside the City of Dreams complex.

This is the first time that the series is being held at PokerStars LIVE, Manila, though it is the fifth time it plays out in the capital city. APPT 9 Manila will last for 11 days, with 14 Official ‘Asia Player of the Year’ Events.

The series began yesterday with the ₱10,000 Warm-up event, which has a ₱3 million guarantee. The last event will be the ₱200,000 High Roller on August 9. The highlight of the series will be the ₱50,000 Main event, which has been amended to allow players 1 re-entry on each of the two starting flights. If a player qualifies for Day 2 from Day 1A, he/she can still play Day 1B and take the largest stack to Day 2.

Once again a large Indian contingent is set to storm the series, with pioneering Indian poker player, Team PokerStars pro Aditya Agarwal playing host to Team India in Manila. This will be Aditya’s first international outing, after his return from the 46th WSOP at Vegas. The pro had a dream finish at the gargantuan $10,000 WSOP Main Event, where he broke his own records, making a 71st place finish for $96,445 and a total of $112,853 in cashes at the series.

In his decade long professional career, Aditya has collected several international scores but somehow a big score at the APPT still eludes him. Last year, he picked up three scores in Macau, one at the APPT Macau in May 2014 and two at the Macau Poker Cup in Jan 2014 but fell short of the final table on all three occasions. With his insatiable appetite for results, Aditya will be hitting the APPT 9 Manila series with vigor to add to his already impressive poker resume.

Other known names joining him at the series include Dhaval Mudgal, Archit Khandelwal, Haresh Kukreja, Romit Advani, Shravan Chhabria, Madhav Gupta, Rohit Bhalla and Samay Parikh.

Aditya Sushant and Amit Jain are late additions to the team with both winning seats to the series via online satellites.

Sushant is no stranger on the APPT circuit. He final tabled the Teams Event at ACOP Macau last year along with Kavish Kukreja for a fifth place finish, besides a deep run in the HK$25,000 Warm-up event.

Haresh Kukreja is an old-timer at APPT and has four APPT cashes under his belt. Kukreja made two final tables at ACOP in Nov last year, which included a seventh place in the HK $15,000 NLH Event for HK$94,900 and the Teams Event fifth place finish. Kavish has also had a great APT season in Manila this year, where he won the $275 opening event for $11,980 and made a third place finish in the $550 NLH event for $4,550.

Fellow Team Pro Dhaval Mudgal has been on a heater of sorts these past few months, and with three final table finishes at MPC Macau between 2012-2013, he will be looking to get back in the winners circle!

Amit Jain is another consistent performer at APPT. He has been playing at APPT since 2012 and his resume boasts of four final table finishes, with his best finish coming at the MPC in Sep 2012, where he finished second in the HK$910 Charity Event for HK$49,250.

For many in the Indian contingent it will be a chance to claim their first big score at the APPT. The next few days promise to be very exciting and we wish our team of challengers all the best at the series!
