Popular poker commentator, Nick Schulman (cover image) came out trumps at the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $50,000 Super High Roller.

Schulman is best known for his in-depth analysis of some of the biggest tournaments alongside fellow commentator Ali Nejad and the duo can be seen analyzing hands and situations is some very prestigious events like the Super High Roller Bowl and the World Series of Poker Main Event.

This time, Schulman showed that he is as good on the table as he is with his words in the commentary box. The New Yorker added yet another accolade to his long list of accomplishments that date back to when he was just 21 years old; he was the youngest player to claim a World Poker Tour title at the time. The two-time WSOP bracelet winner clinched his first gold in 2009 and his second in 2012, both in No Limit 2-7 Lowball.

This time, Schulman defeated the 19-entry field at the 2017 Seminole Hard Rock Poker Open $50,000 Super High Roller NLHE Event for a $440,000 payday. Schulman now has more than $8.9 million in lifetime live tournament earnings.

The tournament attracted a star-studded field that included former SHRPO champion Dan Colman, defending SHRPO champion Jason Koon, WSOP bracelet winners Josh Arieh, David Peters, Ivan Luca, and Sam Soverel along with high roller stars Bryn Kenney, Jake Schindler and Isaac Haxton.

The event paid out the top 4 places and Schulman, who dominated the early levels of the event, was the chip leader going into the official final table.

Final Table Recap

Tom Marchese was the first casualty of the 8-handed final table followed by Chance Kornuth. The day ended after David Peters exited in sixth.

Schulman returned back on Day 2 with a big chip lead with Rainer Kempe the shortest survivor.

Kempe managed to hang in as Brynn Kenney took a brutal beat and exited. Ivan Luca followed him out next when his pocket queen’s could not hold against Schulman’s big slick.

Jake Schindler pitted himself against Schulman for the heads-up match after showing Kempe the door in third place.

Schindler started the heads-up match trailing in chips and found himself with a short stack several times but he managed to pull off three double ups. Soon, he was all in again with a chance to take the lead but the board favored Schulman. The final hand of the event saw Schulman limping while Schindler raised to 120,000. Schulman decided to move all-in holding card 2card 3 and Schindler called tabling card 3card 3. The board ran the card 2card 3card 3card 1card 1 and Schulman paired his ace to seal the title.
