Final Table Recap

Sylvia began the six-handed final table as the shortest stack, but wasted no time in reversing that situation. By the seventh hand he was facing Farid Jattin and Simon Lam, and moved all-in holding . Jattin and Lam both tabled ace king, and the board blanked out, giving Sylvia the huge pot.

15 hands later he crippled Jattin’s stack and the latter was shortly eliminated at sixth place by Zachary Gruneberg.

Thereafter, the final table was dominated by Sylvia and Gruneberg. First Sylvia busted Chris Limo at fifth place. Gruneberg then railed Simon Lam and Taha Maruf at fourth and third place respectively.

Sylvia: 17,675,000 (118 big blinds)

Gruneberg: 17,575,000 (117 big blinds)

The final match was an intense one, lasting 80 hands, with both playing a slow and cautious game initially. The critical point was reached, when Sylvia finally increased his lead to a 10 to 1 advantage. Gruneberg did double up once after that, but the damage was done.

In the final hand Sylvia with moved all in from the button. Gruneberg had a superior and decided to call. The board delivered giving Sylvia a winning pair of jacks to claim the title. Gruneberg made a second place with $490,617 for consolation.

Sylvia not only collected his first title, $821,811 in prize money and the WPT Champions trophy, but also Hublot King Power Unico Carbon and Red watch and a pair of gold Monster 24K headphones, besides a seat to the WPT Tournament of Champions.
